Mohair is the best thing when it's cold. This big jumper, which I bought a couple years ago is still a favourite, allowing me to not have to wear hundreds of layers by being the warmest thing I own (sorry, sheepskin coat). I also like to think that because it's neutral it goes with everything, not that that matters when it's cold- I'm afraid I sometimes revert to that person who would rather be warm that 'look good', old fashioned, you say, clever, I say.

I stumbled across this blog-come-website the other day whilst sorting through my 'favourites' tab. Somehow Brook&Lyn must have got jumbled up into the many favourite tabs I have. But how happy I was to (re)discover it. She's called Mimi Jung, takes incredible photos, has a style which she describes as 'bold, yet minimalistic'- oh, and she's a jewelry designer. The culmination of all these things is beautifully displayed in the blog section of the site, I urge you to have a wander over there.

How great at these? I came across the label Three Floor thanks to my partner in crime.
When I went onto their site I immediately wanted to add everything to my basket- dreams of summer, being tanned and in Paris in this candyfloss come neon pastel colour palette seemed all too appealing.
But it wasn't just the colours that got my attention, the beautiful shapes and tailoring, and a Hanne inspired crop top sold me. I might just have to invest in a piece or two and report back...

These shots of Kim Noorda by Viktor Vauthier epitomize why I'm looking forward to seeing the pastel look arrive- they represent an almost childlike innocence, yet in a very elegant and feminine way. The round up is from 3.1 Philip Lim- I love the idea of mixing very subtle pastel colours together in one outfit and creating a very sleek look.

My new shirt that I got from ebay which I love; worn either down -to show off its thickening red circles, dip dye like pattern- or tied up when paired with my high waisted fuchsia silk trousers, for more of a 50s housewife feel. I'm (still) into too much of one colour (see my all pink outfit), or this clash-on-purpose of the bright red and fuchia- maybe it's to bring a bit of colour into the progressively grey winter weather. All I need now is a deep orange lipstick.
I love the circles on the shirt as they kind of remind me of the Olympic symbol, see what I mean? Perfect timing since they're being held in England this year.

Two colourful ladies. The top picture is from my most recent blog obsession- Sous Style, where beautiful people are photographed in their beautiful kitchens cooking delicious looking food by Elle's photo director Pippa Lord.
The second photo is Natalie Joos looking vibrant, with an air of je ne sais quoi, no doubt sipping on an iced coffee.
So there you have it, pretty people cooking food, and well dressed people drinking coffee, ground breaking.

I feel almost silly telling you where what I'm wearing from, because guess what? It's all vintage. Which seems to be more and more often the case over the past year. I never used to really understand the people who said 'Oh I wear mostly vintage' when I was younger, I'd think- why would you want to wear old things when you can buy new things? Well, kids, it's because old things are often better made at a cheaper price for the very same reason that they're older. And often, as you may notice in your first twenty years, fashions repeat themselves, and so in a sense I'm wearing the originals. Clever? Hell yeah.
There's nothing quite like sifting through racks and racks of clothes and finally falling across an amazing piece instead of seeing ten of the exact same top in the exact right size; I sometimes forget my size when I go to shops as with vintage, you can't chose, it either fits or it doesn't and that's almost the excitement of it, of finding the perfect piece and it fits! It's fate.
I got a rush of luck when I found these silk pink trousers in my favourite vintage shop Reign, which is where the shirt if from too...

One of my favourite jackets from my vintage trawls, it reminds me of a Missoni print. Quite an un-colourful outfit for me, but I'm beginning to get a little obsessed by somewhat subdued colours that are all kind of the same.
I hope you all had a great Christmas time and are looking forward to New Year as much as I am. Perhaps one of my favourite times of year: the beginning of a new epoch at the end of an old one. I love the excitement that surrounds it, like it's an honour to be allowed to pass into another calendar year and the joy of celebrating this with all your friends and dressing up for no reason at all.

YES! Finally inspired by something, so much so that I'ma pop it on here for you. I'm sure by now you've all seen the Susie Lau and Saga Sig video. I watched it the other day. I found it interesting, and I love the beautiful cinematography used in the video.
I recognised Saga Sig's name, but did an obligatory google search once I had watched the video...
It appeared I had found the photographer to some of my favourite photos. Seriously, so many of her shots are some of my most beloved photographs- the ones you find here and there and the internet but are never really sure exactly who they belong too. I was ecstatic- what an inspiration indeed- it made me want to pick up a camera and never put it down.

Hello lovely people, I've just popped in to inform you of a short absence that will no doubt manifest itself over the next coming weeks. I have a ridiculous amount of work to do and my mind is elsewhere, so this is a pre-warning that I may not be my usual self and thus post my usual stuff, as quite frankly at the moment I just don't have the time to think of a rad outfit and endure standing in the freezing cold to document it for you. (Not that I don't love you, or LOVE doing that, of course).

A beautiful show from another set of identical twins (Tata-Naka, Felder Felder), and it seems twin power has got what it takes this season. I loved all the subtle details in this collection, the paneling of the colours, and the stars in the back of the dresses. The girls were exotically inspired and it shows: who doesn't love a good headscarf?

The Craig Lawrence show was packed out this morning. Even with two showings of his SS12 presentation, everyone knew not to miss this show. For the past two years, and four seasons, Craig Lawrence has been slowly but steadily growing what I believe will one day be an empire. He’s got his own niche: knitting. It is very rare that a designer focuses solely on one medium in fashion, yet somehow Craig Lawrence manages to keep it interesting (painfully so), and keeps it current by always creating something new.

Many might then ask themselves- if he has got this far- why no show? And the answer is precisely the reason why Lawrence stands out from amongst the rest: you need the intimacy. What he creates are not strut-past-me clothes, but detailed, intricate, need-to-be-explained clothes. With every look, we are told how and why the garment has been produced- right down to each type of knit. For me, this shows true talent. Yet again, the Craig Lawrence show reminded me of what real fashion is, and what true talent is; it’s hard to miss it when it’s staring you in the face.

This season’s Tata-Naka show was clearly floral inspired, not just obvious from the collection itself, but in true Tata-Naka style, in every other detail. From the potpourri, flower seeds and chocolate roses in the goodie bag, the flower topped bottles of lemonade and the beautifully decorated (and equally tasty) velvet cakes, disguised as lollipops.

Now you might be thinking, florals? For spring? Hardly groundbreaking. But rest assured the girls brought it extra flare with further inspiration from Pina Bausch- the late German choreographer, whose use of movement, colour and set design shone through the Spring/Summer 2012 collection. With the cuts coming from dancewear inspired looks, such as asymmetrical skirts and petal shapes skirts placed over long pleated chiffon.

The details that stood out for me where the beautifully embellished tops, sheer shirts with printed shoulders and a pastel pink crop top with beaded tassels.

As ever, the Tata-Naka show rounded off the last womenswear day beautifully, by creating their own take on a classic spring theme, and seeing to every detail- that is what makes this growing label truly stand out.

I'm finally trying to put up some of my street style shots from London Fashion Week.
I find street shots very interesting, as I like looking at other people's styles. However, this year, it has to be said, there wasn't much to see! I don't mean this in a necessarily pessimistic way, but it seemed that most of what I saw, I'd seen before.
On the other hand, there were these bright and colourful combinations that caught my eye. My favourites have to be that insane shirt in the first photo, and the blue hair-pink jacket combo in the last one.

JS Lee was one of my favourite shows I saw this season. Keeping in her classic minimalist style, Jackie was inspired by photos of her niece and cotton candy- which were shown in her colour choices.
What I enjoyed most about this show were all the little details, the structured shorts underneath skirts, asymmetric lengths, small ties at the back of dresses, paneling and cut out shoulders and backs- every last detail was perfectly thought out, and what's more- perfectly executed.

“Bang!” was the title of today’s, excuse the cliché, show stopping Felder Felder show – and what a bang indeed. With signature hardware and leather bodices present, the sisters managed to create a sophisticated yet exciting Spring/Summer 2012 collection, described as “modern undone style”.

From bondage style bikinis, studs and all, to long flowing white and orange tie-dye dresses, fuelled by an uplifting soundtrack of Blueboy and the Smashing Pumpkins: every strut matched a beat. Favourites included metallic blue heels with a matching backpack. It seems that the Felder sisters know more and more each season exactly what their woman-every-woman- wants. The phrase “girls are doing it for themselves” has never been so apt.

This season, Ashish created an early spring garden on his catwalk – literally, flowers were dropped.

Using his trademark head-to-toe sequins, Ashish called this season’s woman “the gardener’s daughter”, so there’s no wonder she had flowers in her boots then. It also sheds (pun intended) further light on the floral patterns, from marigolds to poppies, which appeared at least on one garment of every look, which were accompanied by straw hats, underlining the country feel.

But don’t let these niceties make you think this girl has got something to hide, as the hip high slit on the last dressed proved; the garden’s daughter must make the gardener very worried indeed.

BACKSTAGE.MICHAEL.VAN.DER.HAM

Today, in a parallel world I ended up backstage at Michael Van Der Ham.
I've always been of the opinion that backstage is more interesting than front of house, as you get to see more of the hussle and bussle of the real fashion world, not just the perfected product that comes out at the end of it.
After taking in the whole building- the old Eurostar terminal at Waterloo- and after the inital excitement, I took some shots of the models. Luckily there was great light due to pretty much all round windows, and the models looked great in the colourful clothes, and were equally cheery themselves.
Although this may sound cheesy; this was one of the best experiences of my life. The very reason I first fell in love with the fashion world was because I would spend hours scouring through the backstage shots from all the big shows on the Vogue website. This is why I originally wanted to be a model booker, and subsequently interned at Storm and Premier Models. Thus, me entering in the backstage world, camera in hand, ready to take my own photos of the models, was truly a dream come true.

FASHIONS.NIGHT.OUT.2011.

What a night! One that went from eating candyfloss and sipping lychee martinis, to rollerblading on the top floor of a shoe shop, to having flick books made out of a video of yourself.
Let us begin in The Box Boutique, where we headed first, and the place of candyfloss and martinis (you know a night will be good when these are the first things you're served). The Box Boutique is a recently opened shoe shop galore- with neon lighting highlighting the perfectly laid out shoes.

After having satisfied our cravings for all things sweet, we wandered down a few streets to find the Rupert Sanderson store, just as we were about to go in the security guard told us there was a roller disco upstairs. My response: "Sorry?", my sister's "Let's go!". Having found out that it was indeed related to the Sanderson shoes (of course), up we went to find rollerblades, wigs, and star shaped glasses ready at our disposal.

It was great fun, but I was sad to find out I wasn't so good at rollerblading as I thought I might be...
Next, we walked round the corner to Diane Von Furstenberg, as my sister will begin interning there in New York in a couple of weeks. We were by this point extremely hungry so were only too glad to be served delicious canapes whilst we waited in line to have our flick book made.

After so much excitement, we decided to stroll in and out of a few other shops.

One thing I did notice this year compared to last was how busy it was! Most of the shops had queues coming out onto the street from them, which is a shame as one of the best parts of last year was how open an accommodating all the shops were. But then again, if it's busy it is of course best not to have a rammed shop.
All in all, a very enjoyable night as ever!

Next thing: London Fashion Week begins this Friday.

It's no big news that I love vintage finds, and this dress is one of them. I picked it up in a kilo sale; the pattern, length and open back all stood out for me. It's also very light weight which means it can easily be thrown on in summer, as well as worn in winter with some thick tights underneath and a big jumper on top.
I'm off to Vogue's Fashion's Night Out tonight in London. I had such fun last year, so I'm heading back tonight to enjoy the atmosphere, drink free cocktails, and find fun shops.

This dress is so perfect for the holidays, it's so easy to throw on on top of everything- or nothing as is more likely to be the case if you're on the beach. Again playing with light and shadows in these photos, a small obsession of mine.
It's getting closer and closer to Fashion Week and I'm getting more and more excited, and may have started deciding what to wear. I always do this, then change my choices completely once I get there.

The most glittery, camp and kitsch shoes in the world are now mine. I bought these somewhat to satisfy my longing for these, but also because, I need more shoes.
I jest, I jest! I don't need more shoes! But these are multifunctional, they could be used as a prop, something to fill a shelf with, something you could use when you want to get loads of reflections of green sequins on your walls, slippers... see! The possibilities are endless.
Have I convinced you that I needed them yet? If not, I promise, to wear them loads at (the ever approaching) London Fashion Week, even though I risk hurting myself/huge embarrassment if I take a tumble on the notorious Somerset House cobbles.
A good buy, I say. And goodbye, I say too.

Up very very high in the mountains at the beginning of my time away in the South of France. It was so tranquil it was great to get somewhere so quiet where I could just roam around the garden and take photos of... flowers. As you can see my new 50mm lens does some of its best work when photographing pretty things like flowers, maybe I should enter some kind of flower photo competition. Or maybe not.

In love with this painfully pink top from The Scarlet Room, I especially like how it's longer at the back, making it a half dress half top kind of thing. It's also perfect for summer as it's really light weight, and of course, looks great with a tan.
My cousin took these photos last week just outside Cannes where we were staying, on my new 50mm lens which I am a little obsessed with, playing with the moving light and shadows coming through the trees in the evening.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's four me's! That's right, to make up for lack of photos I've cunnningly created two sets of identical twins, who are either desperately trying to find someone else to hang out with, or love to stare at that matching self. Hey, who can blame them.
Now, you could call me indecisive- you might think that I couldn't decide which way round look best, but you'd be ~~right~~ wrong.

These are actually a preview of some shots I did yesterday evening with my good friend, Robbie Peachey, in the mean streets of... Oxford. Pretty scary stuff people. A highlight was having to change clothes on a pretty busy street, filled with tourists. Don't you love to look back on those kind of memories?

Hey there, I was on the roof of Selfridges. That's right they flooded it and put boats in it.

The theme was 'Discovery' and we were treated like explorers, and greeted by a man with a scary moustache .

He gave us crystals in exchange for cocktails, we kindly complied.

Yep, cocktails.

It was all in aid of the sweetener, Truvia.

We tried and tested it: it was sweet.

Then we hopped on a mini rowing boat. On the roof.

We were given umbrellas for the waterfall. Yeah you heard, the waterfall. (Although sadly we still managed to get a little wet).

Once we got through the waterfall, we saw all the Stevia plants which the sweetner is made of.

On our row back, we passed the strawberry boat. We dipped some strawberries into the sweetner, which was, um, sweet.

We made it back to "land" and grabbed another cocktail.

Then some tea in a nut...

Then we hopped into a lift full of books, that took us back to reality.

Immensely enjoying living in London at the moment. So many things to do- makes me feel like I'm very cultural (even if one of those things is hitting the vintage markets...).
Bought these new boots and shirt on Saturday- so in love with the embossed bit on the boots, and the most perfect caramel coloured shirt.
I'm also trying to get the hang of using my new 50mm lens, I love how it just blurs things.

As you'll know, I love to clash at the moment. And what I love even more is having a clash around my neckline. No, not a car crash which hits my neck. But a collar that clashes with my jumper. So here I decided to go for pink and red- supposed enemies no more.
I also (and I think hilariously, but maybe that's just me), I found my marbles. No? Just me? Okay.
And to top it all off (and perhaps prove that I have in fact lost my marbles) (this could go on forever) I wore some red leggings, which matched perfectly with... the chair. WOW.

Holaaaa I'm back. Been all over the country, moving house, decorating rooms, attending parties, and spending most of my life in the back of a car. Have now had twelve hours sleep, and start interning at Notion Magazine in a matter of hours- life is non-stop, and I'm quite enjoying it.

As for the outfit, I'm enjoying yet another clash of colours (as seems to be the only way lately), but I also like that the blue trousers are subtly tie-dye, which adds another dimension to the look. The necklace I got from eBay to add to my growing collection of over the top, costume jewelery gold necklaces.

My go with bright prints. Got these shorts today and I am in love, the perfect vertical yellow stripe, and a length that i can play around with. I clashed it with a horizontally pink striped sweater I got in the Zara sale.
and OH thanks for asking those are my new ugly shoes, I like to think of them as a mix between the new JC Lita's and the black Wang mules. (I'll go into this further at another time).
